I grew up comfortably in the church, believing that my good deeds saved me. Driven by what others thought of me, I wanted to gain the approval of those around me. I wanted to be the most likable person in the room, and I was living for the approval of others.
My junior year at Troy University brought with it unexpected challenges in my family. I began to look to the world for fulfillment, but God and his grace changed my heart and life forever. Faithful followers of Jesus began to deeply invest in my life. There was something different about people who loved God and rested in His saving grace. God has continued to grow and teach me every day since. He has put something in my heart for multiplication and discipleship while reminding me of my need and dependence for Christ every day, hour, and second of my life.
